This role sits within our Environment and Planning Directorate - Development and Building, which oversees and administers policies, systems, and practices relating to the built environment and landscapes within the Georges River area.
Georges River Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Building Surveyor to join the Development and Building Team. In this role as Building Surveyor, you will assist the Development and Building team in their roles towards appropriate development outcomes in terms of the natural, built, social and economic environment in the Georges River Council area.
This role is diverse and rewarding and you will be responsible for providing technical input to all development types, ensure that all applications are effectively and efficiently assessed, and you will work alongside a supportive team to facilitate, mediate and consult with the community in relation to any development and building applications.

- Salary from $91,283.24 - $105,765.05 per annum plus 11% superannuation dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate

The successful candidate will have
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health & Building Surveying or equivalent
- Building Surveyor—Restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings) Accreditation under Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020
- Possess and maintain a current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence and WHS General Induction (White Card)
Skills
- Demonstrate extensive experience in the processing of Applications for Approvals under the Local Government Act 1993 and Applications for all certifications under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, including those requiring assessment under performance objectives of the BCA
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with the Councillors, community, the courts and other professional bodies involved in the industry
- Strong interpersonal communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Proven conflict resolution, problem solving, and mediation and facilitation skills
- Proven organisation and time management skills
- Ability to draft reports, referrals, routine correspondence and maintain records in an accurate, clear, concise and timely manner
- Ability to approach problems in a creative manner through the use of mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation
