We partner with our transport operators to deliver the services that our customers need, when they need them.The Integrated Service Planning Section focus on the delivery of high-performance services that drive increased patronage on the network and are currently seeking to recruit a Bus Planner to join the Planning and Performance Team.The Opportunity
The Bus Planner is responsible for undertaking research, analysis and making recommendations on the planning and provision of metropolitan and regional passenger transport routes, and scheduling options which contribute to the effective management of SAPTA.This includes utilising specialised traffic planning systems and data analytics tools to ensure efficient scenario planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.This role provides expert advice, liaises extensively and forms collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders in relation to passenger transport services, including day to day planning as well as the future development of the network. The role is required to participate on and provide high level advice for major project teams that impact public transport and negotiate outcomes for public transport that benefit the public and the State.This role is also responsible for managing and implementing annual programs and capital works programs related to the public transport network.About You
The ideal candidate will possess skills in managing complex programs and projects, including expertise in transportation network planning and scheduling. They should demonstrate proficiency in utilising specialised tools such as IVU Traffic Planning System and Swiftly data analytics planning tool. Additionally, the successful applicant will demonstrate experience in providing expert support for infrastructure projects, conducting negotiations with stakeholders, and implementing solutions that meet customer needs and service standards and deliver efficiencies.Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Current Driver’s LicenceExperience/Special Conditions
This role is a dual call and is being advertised at the ASO4 and ASO5 classification levels, in which the successful applicant will be appointed at the classification level commensurate with their demonstrated skills and experience. Please refer to the role statements below for further information.Prior to employment with the Department the successful candidate will be required to provide:

  • A National Police Check (NPC) which must be renewed every three years.
  • A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.Tenure of Vacancy
