Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator

Position:               BUSHFIRE RISK MITIGATION COORDINATOR

Status:                  Full-time (Contract position – until mid-August 2024. Opportunity to job share part time from August.)

Salary:                  Salary of $94,915 p.a., plus restricted private use of a motor vehicle & additional benefits.

Opportunity:   

The Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator (BRMC) is responsible for developing and implementing local government bushfire treatment programs. The BRMC works closely with relevant stakeholders to identify and prioritise mitigation activities within designated local governments and ensures treatment plans are effectively planned, completed and evaluated. The role is jointly funded by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), Shire of Denmark and Shire of Plantagenet. The position will be shared equally between the Shire of Denmark and the Shire of Plantagenet.

We’re looking for someone who can;

• Review local government(s) Bushfire Risks to determine treatment priorities using experience and knowledge of emergency management and Bushfire Risk management (BRM) strategies. 
• Liaise with DFES, Shire staff, contractors and other relevant stakeholders to confirm and document the appropriate treatment strategies for local government Bushfire Risks within the BRM Plan.
• Demonstrate experience in tendering and contract development, administration and management.
• Enhance communication and form positive working relationships with the community.
• Prepare, submit and manage Mitigation Activity Fund Grants Program applications to support the provision of funds required to implement local government treatment programs and the completion of acquittals in accordance with requirements. 
• Work autonomously at a high level with minimum supervision.
• Demonstrate high level administrative skills and understanding of technology utilising a range of computer systems.
• Accept responsibility, be solution focused, with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
• Be a part of a strong team culture and demonstrate the ability to multitask within the team.
