Job description
Who we are

We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 750 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
With the transfer of heavy vehicle regulatory services from the Department of Transport and Main Roads to the NHVR set to occur in April 2024, we are now recruiting for our Queensland team.
About the role
As Business Advisor for our Queensland on-roads operations team, you will support the Director and leadership team by providing accurate and timely advice on a range of issues impacting the delivery of key priorities.
This is a critical role, where you will support a team of Operations Support Officers to ensure the division is fully supported across the business administration requirements.
Other key responsibilities include:
Assist with developing general correspondence, policies and briefing material for the division.
Monitor key deliverables and priorities in relation to the broader team’s activities and manage any risks that may impact on outcome delivery.
Coordinate and provide advice to the leadership team for the ongoing management of business planning, including financial and resource reporting.
Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders to research, analyse, make recommendations, and prepare responses for the Director. This includes ministerial, board and general correspondence, and briefings and reports on critical and sensitive matters.
Review divisional responses and briefing notes to ensure consistency with policy and standards.
Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal hours and travel intrastate to connect with the broader division is a part of the role. You may also be required to undertake travel for training and onboarding during the first month of the role.
What’s on offer
We are offering a full time, permanent position based in Townsville, commencing in March 2024. Some of the key benefits include:
Ongoing professional development and support
Rostered day off and additional leave during the Christmas closure
Up to 14.25% superannuation with co-contribution scheme
Access to wellbeing programs including Fitness Passport and discounted health insurance
Access to salary packaging including novated lease
About you
Your extensive business administration experience at Director level will include successfully supporting a decentralised team and building a culture of continuous improvement.
Pairing your advanced understanding of operational requirements and business acumen, undertaking business and financial planning with a commercial mindset will not be foreign to you.
You will be flexible in nature and able to prioritise and apply sound judgement to decision making, while exercising professionalism when responding to confidential, sensitive and challenging information.
With your high-level interpersonal skills, you will build strong working relationships within your team and across NHVR’s business divisions. Strong attention to detail and advanced written communication skills will be crucial to your success.
