About the role

This role sits within the Home Buying Assurance team whose mandate is to provide best in class first line assurance support to the business, developing best practices for operational risk management, uplifting our control environment, and supporting the remediation of events and issues across the bank.
As an Assurance Management Expert you will be responsible for providing the following 1st line non-financial risk management support to the Home Buying portfolio:
Provide assurance over quality and adequacy of non-financial risks, key controls, treatments, events, audit items, ORA’s etc
Provide insights, identify trends and make recommendations in relation to how non-financial risks are being identified, assessed and treated across the portfolio/tribe
Partner with businesses to support them in delivering their own non-financial risk management accountabilities (e.g.non-financial risk assessments, events analytics, supporting delivery of treatments, assisting with audits, preparation of non-financial risk forum packs) via provision of input, expertise, coaching and guidance
Mature experience in non-financial risk management ecosystems, including proactively identifying and responding to internal/external influences at a Portfolio/BU/Tribe level
Drive improvement in non-financial risk capability/culture/awareness and promote non-financial risk management as a core capability across all BU’s/Tribes

What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Deep experience across Finance and Banking preferably within Retail Banking Products
- Strong experience in non-financial risk management/ compliance OR internal / external audit
- Strong understanding of products and segment strategies and impacts on operational risks and controls
- Experience undertaking high impact non-financial risk reviews and writing risk submissions
- Strong understanding of relevant obligations and regulatory requirements
- Ability to collaborate with the business to develop effective non-financial risk management solutions
- Utilise analytical insights and data to identify opportunities to better balance non-financial risks with customer propositions and help drive critical business decisions by analysing metrics and designing reports
- Desire to create a thorough understanding of how our customers and bankers relate and react to embedding risk management in everyday activities
- Willingness to look at things differently, challenge the status quo and innovate
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build relationships through a collaborative approach
