SC1 Demonstrate exemplary financial analysis, financial management and financial reporting skills. This will assume experience with the entire CASES 21 Finance module and ideally knowledge of the COMPASS financial management module.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in budget development and analysis associated with both the schools local budget and the Student Resource Package.
SC3 An excellent knowledge of employment conditions and current human resource management policies and practices for all staff employed at the school as well as proven experience in using eduPay, and CASES21.
SC4 Highly developed administrative, organisational and management skills with a demonstrated ability to utilise effective time management strategies, establish priorities, organise work patterns to meet deadlines and effectively manage office personnel.
SC5 Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective interaction with the leadership team and all members of the school community with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
SC6 An ability to project a highly professional and positive image of the school to students, their families and the community.
The Business Managers primary role is to manage and oversee the Business and Financial Administration functions of the school, including annual budget, cash flow, fees collection, rebates, payment of accounts and property matters. It is expected that the Business Manager will be involved in the life of the school, developing healthy relationships with staff, students and families to assist with building the community at the school.
This role assumes a high level of managerial expertise, including a significant level of leadership, the ability to consult, delegate, analyse and plan in specific contexts within the school community.
The Business Manager plays an important role in helping to realise the schools Strategic Intent. This role is specifically related to ensuring the adequate provision of resources needed throughout the school.
The Business Manager is a member of the Leadership Team that is responsible for the leadership and management of the school.
The role requires high level of knowledge and experience in relation to Rowville Secondary Colleges business goals, objectives and human resource obligations where the day-to-day operational management of all facets of HR is essential.
The Business Manager is required to apply excellent human resource skills and knowledge, as well as applying and exhibiting high levels of management and interpersonal skills in assisting and supporting the Principal and School Council with the consultancy, development and management of projects of the school.
The capabilities required of Business Manager are per the Framework below.
Any additions to the above will be by mutual consultation/agreement between Business Manager and Principal.
Deliver School Services
- Manage the design and production of school publications and documents
Finance
- Manage and direct the preparation of annual budgets and regular financial statements and contribute to the financial decision making of the school.
- Attend and present the schools financial position on a monthly basis to the School Council Finance Committee.
- Prepare funding submissions for the leadership team and school council.
- Attend the School Council meetings and answer and financial questions raised by members of the School Council.
- Direct the accounting processes of the school and ensure that all funds, including school investments, are effectively accounted for according to Treasury regulations.
- Provide advice to staff on spending against budget in respect to faculties, programs and other school projects.
- Administer government grants and other school income.
- Manage fund raising activities.
General Administration
- Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
- Provide administrative support to external service providers as required.
- Manage the processing of student admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers.
- Provide required level of administrative support for school events, functions and projects.
- Implement induction programs for new staff, volunteers and other workers to the school.
Human Resources
- Research, plan and prepare development programs for support staff.
- Manage recruitment procedures.
- Provide authoritative advice to the leadership team on support structures and work practices.
- Assist in the development of work practices that ensure appropriate occupational health and safety standards are maintained.
- Manage procedures relating to employee relations issues.
- Assist in the development of human resource planning.
Manage School Resources - in consultation with our Facilities Manager
- Coordinate the use and maintenance of school buildings and equipment.
- Liaise and negotiate with service providers in respect to the cost and quality of services.
- Supervise the delivery of contracted services.
- Manage the development and collection of resource material at the school.
Support School Council
- Draft reports and make recommendations on operational issues.
- Evaluate and report on the operational efficiency of computer systems in production, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
- Develop techniques and procedures that will affect work practices beyond the work place.
- Manage a technical program with a broad scope across the school.
This is a full-time position that requires a process-driven approach, coupled with creativity and a customer-centric focus to ensure operational efficiencies, as well as student and stakeholder expectations are met.
There is an attendance requirement of up to 30 additional days in the school holidays, a leave purchase allowance will be paid for this attendance.
