The role
We are seeking a Buyers Assistant who will provide invaluable administrative support to our Head Buyer to ensure data integrity and accuracy in relation to the end-to-end buying process. This includes sample management, reporting, management of data entry and competitor insights.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain data integrity and accuracy of the buy spreadsheet
- Present product performance in business review meetings, reporting on weekly best sellers and make recommendations on opportunities to the Head Buyer
- Prepare post seasonal review and pricing / buy meeting reports
- Conduct store visits to monitor and report on competitor activity, research competitors to form educated opinions that contribute to commercial decisions, and review product opportunities and present findings
- Assist with the construction of a well-balanced range framework inclusive of size curve chart
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers on critical path and pricing, as well as liaising with supply chain and production
- Manage merchandise for special promotions inclusive of Gifting edits - research & present ideas, manage critical path & development of samples
- Work closely with the Design team to ensure margins are met across product offering
- Assist with the buying process for external stockists
- Perform style / colour / price analysis and present findings to Head Buyer
- Assist with assortment and allocation recommendations, including preparing and maintaining all relevant tools for the assortment planning process
- Manage inventory levels by SKU to support overall sales and inventory plans, as well as aligning with marketing / promotional strategies
- Ensure promotions / markdowns are correct in all software programs
- Establish accurate style information to submit to Production and Wholesale teams
- Ensure all price changes are rolled out to all channels
- Maintain all information relating to product launches and product deliveries
- Manage samples, ensuring they are on time and ready for ranging
About you
We are looking for someone who ideally has a minimum of two years experience as an Assistant Buyer or within the Merchandising function of a Retail business. You will be proficient in MS Office, Google Suite & PLM, as well as having advanced excel skills. Knowledge of Illustrator & NetSuite is preferred.
You will need to have effective negotiation, numerical, critical thinking and analytical skills, with a strong knowledge of OTB. You will possess hands-on product development experience, with a knowledge of fabric, specs, grading and manufacturing of apparel. You will have exceptional organisational, planning and time management skills, as well as a strong attention to detail and a passionate interest in sustainability.
Ideally you will have a relevant degree qualification.
You will enjoy working as part of a team, but you're able to work independently at times and prioritise your own workload, as well as having the ability to be self-motivated and focused on the job at hand.
