The Parliamentary, Governance and Strategy Branch provides advice and support to our ministers, the department and portfolio entities to fulfil their responsibilities to the Parliament. The Branch manages parliamentary processes and delivers Cabinet support.
The Branch delivers secretariat support to Finance's governance committees and coordinates implementation of the Enhanced Commonwealth Performance Framework which includes preparation of Finance's corporate plan and annual report.
The Branch has responsibility for implementation of a broad range of capacity building projects under DFAT funded Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific and can provide advice and support to areas of the Department hosting visiting foreign delegations.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Parliamentary and Corporate Engagement Branch is looking for a high performing, client service focused Cabinet Liaison Officer to fill an expected APS 6 vacancy in the team.
Cabinet Liaison Officers have responsibility for managing all aspects of the Department's cabinet business. As part of the role, duties include:
- distribution and handling of the department's incoming and outgoing Cabinet documents through CabNet+
- preparing briefing folders containing cabinet material for the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries and other SES officers as required
- raising awareness internally on the requirements of appropriate handling of Cabinet documents, including regular stocktakes of printed material and provision of training across the department
- liaising with our Ministers' offices, the Secretary's office and wider executive, Cabinet secretariat in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Cabinet Liaison Officers in other departments as required
- working collaboratively with colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders
- other parliamentary liaison support for the branch as required.
At times, this role will require after hours and weekend work and this is managed through a roster arrangement within the team. Under the Department of Finance's Enterprise Agreement 2024-27, an allowance of $20,100 is paid to Cabinet Liaison Officers to cover these periods.
This role is a designated security classified position. A clearance at the baseline level is essential, with the understanding that a security clearance at the Negative Vetting Level 1 will be attained. Practical understanding and familiarity of the Cabinet Handbook (PM&C) is desirable.
