In the role of Cadet (Surveyor) you will utilise your technical skill and knowledge to assist in the delivery of geospatial products and services to assist the Department in planning, designing, constructing and managing its road network.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Under supervision:
o Assist in the delivery of civil works schemes in accordance with departmental standards, specifications, policies and procedures.
o Acquire and validate geospatial information for planning, design, construction and road corridor management.
o Assemble, analyse, interpret, transform and convert information into formats specific to client needs.
o Deliver geospatial projects, products and services to meet departmental requirements.
o Apply contemporary project management principles in line with surveying standards, guidelines, and departmental policies and practices to deliver the projects.
o Support and coordinate work activities of team members.
- Attend all required classes (including lectures, tutorials and practicals) and pass and successfully complete all examinations and assessments required to obtain your qualification, as described under 'mandatory requirements'.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following mandatory requirements:
- Cadets are required to be studying or enrolled in:
o Associate Degree of Spatial Science - major in Surveying,
or
o Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology - major in Surveying,
or
o Equivalent qualification, acceptable for registration with the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ).
Desirable Requirements:
- Valid Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence or equivalent may be required.
Important Information for Candidate:
- There are two opportunities available at multiple locations (Toowoomba and Townsville).
- Successful applicants will be required to enrol in the Bachelor of Spatial Science prior to appointment.
