We are looking for a Cafe Supervisor for Common Bean Cafe, a Social Enterprise facilitated by Banksia Gardens
The Cafe Supervisor will ensure daily operations of the cafe are seamless and will assist in serving customers and basic food preperation. The Cafe Supervisor predominantly operate our site at Hume Global Learning Centre and may from time to time move between our other two sites, all within walking distance in Broadmeadows. The other sites are located within Kangan Tafe and next to DPV.
The role is an exciting one, it is not just your standard cafe atmosphere it is supporting the successful operation of The Common Bean Café a Social Enterprise and contributing to excellence in the hospitality sector. You will help to support a team of baristas, cafe assistants and trainees as they are introduced to the hospitality sector or are building on their employability skills.
Key Duties
Café Operations
Undertake all aspects of the daily operations of the café, including:
Closing procedures, including the clean down of service areas and equipment at commencement, end and throughout each shift. Will need to be able to open the premises on occasion also.
Excellent customer service
Serving food to customers
Food and drink preparation
Food purchasing, safe storage practices and waste disposal
Ensuring counters and customer seating areas are kept clean
Accepting payment and providing accurate change to customers
Deliver exceptional customer service.
Support and engage in a positive environment, which provides consistent, efficient, and friendly service for customers, and exceeds customer expectations.
Follow safe work practices, and demonstrate a commitment to BGCS values.
Work efficiently and collaboratively leading the café team.
Receiving delivered café supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered.
Taking inventory of café supplies and supporting ordering of new stock as needed.
Rostering
Training new employees and trainees
Working collaboratively with the Operations Manager and Manager Circular Economy Sustainability to ensure The Common Bean Café is meeting financial, sustainability and social impact targets
Required
Minimum 1-2 years of managing a Cafe or Restuarant
Barista skills
Cook or chef experience
Own car
Desirable Skills
Passion for contributing to local community and desire to support young people upskill
Passion for sustainable initiative within the hospitality sector
