The Vermont South Neighbourhood House is one of ten Neighbourhood Houses located within the Whitehorse Council district in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. The House offers programs and services in a friendly, purpose-built environment to meet the needs of the local community. These include adult education, lifestyle & recreational courses, children’s activities, a social enterprise café & catering, and room hire.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person to join our dedicated team, as the Supervisor and Cook for our social enterprise Café. You will lead a small team in the day to day operations of the Café, as well as support the training of students interested in a hospitality career.
Our Café offers the local community a place to relax and connect, whilst enjoying a great coffee and delicious food that is made on the premises. We also offer a catering service to local businesses and the community.
The person we are looking for will have:
- Cooking and catering experience and skills with a focus on café style foods and beverages.
- Strong leadership skills with previous experience in a hospitality setting
- An ability and interest in facilitating training, coaching and mentoring
- A commitment to working in a community setting with a focus on learning and social connection
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible, collaborative approach and attitude
- Strong attention to detail and ability to drive excellent service standards
- Enthusiasm and creativity that will support business growth
