Cafe Supervisor

We are SONIDO! Cafe in Fitzroy. We've been making history on Gertrude St. since 2010. Arepas, Colombian Coffee, Drinks and Mucho More! Join us to keep Fitzroy a bit weird and delicious. We're a family business, not a hospo-group or a corporate operation. Sonido! is tiny but our passion huge.

We are looking for a Cafe Supervisor with at least 1 year hands-on experience in a similar role. You will be leading our small team of baristas, cooks and floor staff in a venue with a 14 year history of delivering yummy food and drinks with a latin soul. We are a different type of cafe, not by a conscious marketing choice but by our South American nature and roots. Come be yourself with us.

This is a part-time / 4 days per week position. Salary is pro-rata. 

Tasks:

• Lead our team as a role model
• Ensure the daily service is run smoothly and efficiently 
• Attract, lead and manage Staff: Prepare rosters, assign duties, training, feedback, hiring.
• Identify areas for improvement
• Ensure our ethos is always communicated through our products   
• Encourage a supportive and genuine workplace for all employees
• Inspire team members with a lead-by-example approach with a positive and energetic attitude
• Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of both Food Safety and OH&S requirements 
• Work collaboratively with the owners and the supervisors of our other two venues
• Your work will combine hands-on FOH shifts with admin tasks and the odd hands-on kitchen or coffee shifts.
