Overview
The Women's & Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia. We are the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA's largest maternity and obstetric service.
Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, state-wide and hospital-based services for children and perinatal women.

CAMHS Connect is the triage service for CAMHS in SA and provides a consistent phone entry point for consumers and standardised referral management across CAMHS. Connect staff will undertake phone triage and make recommendations for ongoing mental health support where appropriate, including to CAMHS teams and other mental health services.

The Opportunity
As a Clinician with mental health experience, you will strive toward a reflective, systemically and dynamically informed contribution to team activities. All activities will be undertaken with a common goal; offering a child, young person and family an experience of being understood, contained and supported to cope as they move into appropriate further mental health care.
You will have the day-to-day support of a Clinical Coordinator, Senior Clinicians and colleagues. Work hours are across the Monday to Friday working week, shifts between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm .
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive therapeutic assessments and collaborative treatment plans.
  • Implement individual, family, and group therapies using various models and skills.
  • Act as a consultant and resource person, providing information and education on child, adolescent, and family mental health.
  • Contribute to research and evaluation programs to enhance clinical services.
  • Foster positive team relationships, participate in the education and training of CAMHS staff, and provide supervision for students.
  • Provide a safe, consistent and appropriate telephone triage function for CAMHS

About You
Essential Requirements:
  • Educational Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (Australian Association of Social Workers full membership), Psychology (General registration and endorsement for clinical practice), or Occupational Therapy (Board registration).
  • Personal Abilities: Strong communication skills, commitment to social justice principles, ability to work independently with limited supervision, and a dedication to personal and professional development.
  • Experience: Extensive clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health, demonstrated ability in assessments and interventions, program development, and working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of clinical work, developmental theory, assessment and intervention models, and government policies impacting child and family health.
