Job description

ABOUT YWCA AUSTRALIA

We are a proudly feminist not-for-profit organisation and for over 140 years we have been working at the forefront of gender equality through our housing, community programs and Advocacy. Our five-year plan has a focus on making young women’s leadership and women’s housing our priority for gender equity in Australia. This will ensure we continue to deliver measurable and meaningful impact towards a future where gender equality is a reality.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

YWCA Australia is currently seeking a passionate Campaigns and Advocacy Officer to join our Advocacy and External Affairs Team. This is a full-time role and can be based anywhere in Australia.  As this role works closely with volunteers, some meetings occur outside of office hours.

The role works closely with young women, women, and gender-diverse people to elevate voices and drive social change. You will lead the development of advocacy Campaigns and build online movements to achieve key outcomes in the areas of housing, homelessness, and gender equality.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and collaborating with the YWCA Young Women's Council
  • Designing advocacy Campaigns and developing relevant content
  • Mobilising the YWCA digital activist community to secure advocacy wins

ABOUT YOU

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing & Communications/Public Relations/Public Policy or relevant work experience
  • High level of digital competency including experience crafting and designing engaging content and managing online communities
  • Demonstrated experience developing engaging campaigns, building content, and working alongside and for young people
  • Interest in building grassroots online advocacy communities, working with volunteers, and building relationships
  • Concise and tailored communication and strong interpersonal skills

This position will require the applicant to satisfactorily meet our pre-employment requirements.  This includes:

  • Completion of a national criminal history check.
  • A valid relevant state-based working with children permit.

Don’t meet every single requirement? At YWCA Australia we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace.  If this role speaks to you but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway.

Please connect with us at any time during the recruitment process if you require assistance to fully participate.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE: 2 April 2024

We will be reviewing candidates as they apply, strong candidates will be notified as their applications are received.
