It is expected that the ‘Canteen Manager’ as part of a team contributes to the positive, effective, and efficient development of Hymba Yumba as a vibrant and engaged educational community embedded in First Nations cultures.
Hymba Yumba is seeking dedicated and passionate Canteen Manager to start in Term 2, 2024.
The Role
- Design an appealing menu for the various members of the School community.
- Prepare nutritious and appealing food.
- Plan, organise and monitor all aspects of canteen operations.
- Manage, lead and train canteen staff and volunteers.
- Comply with all health, safety and hygiene requirements.
- Provide great customer service.
- Financially manage canteen operations to achieve, as a minimum, break even.
- Ensure all canteen operations are aligned with HYIS Vision and Values.
The Person
Will need to have the ability to oversee and run all aspects of the canteen operation.
Required Attributes for this role:
- Current Working with Children Blue Card.
- Passion for cooking with experienced cooking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, organise and control the day-to-day operations of the canteen including finances, stock control and menu planning.
- Ability to lead a team, work collaboratively and relate well to students, other staff and community.
- Safe Handling of Food certification.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills..
- Honesty, reliability and a strong work ethic with the capacity to work with minimal supervision.
- Competent computer skills and good written and verbal communication.
Desirable Criteria:
- Food Safety Supervisor Qualification.
- Experience as a school canteen supervisor or similar.
