THE OPPORTUNITY
In our state-of-the-art Melbourne support office (Mulgrave) and reporting to the Head of Finance Shared Services, the Capital Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing a team of 6 to ensure the capital WIP review and accounting processes are carried out to facilitate timely and accurate reporting to our business partners. You will lead, develop and manage the team to ensure review processes are carried out within agreed timescales, in line with customer requirements and budgets. You will establish a continuous improvement culture to ensure processes are refreshed & are as efficient as possible while meeting City & Customer requirements.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the day to day operational activities of the capital review accounting team, including all capital WIP balances are reviewed and actioned on time – meeting weekly, monthly and annual timelines
- Work with Operations and Management Accounting teams to ensure a smooth review process within agreed timelines and customer budgets
- Responsible for performance management, coaching, cross training and professional learning and development of all team members
- Report to Finance management regularly on initiatives developed and process improvements to achieve above outcomes
- Create and maintain up to date review policies, procedures and guidelines for each customer and revenue stream
To be considered for this role you will have / be:
- Degree-level qualifications in Accounting or similar preferred
- Experience in leading and developing a team while working with multiple stakeholders(essential)
- Excellent verbal and written skills, analytical skills, problem solving, initiative and decision-making skills with an ability to multitask
- Experience in managing external and internal stakeholder expectations
- Proven ability to perform strategic planning & priority setting for oneself and staff to meet department/company objectives
- Advanced level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office is essential (Advanced Excel including Formulas, VLookups, Charts and Pivot Tables) and shared workflow technology (Microsoft Office, SharePoint and iCloud)
