Main Aim
The main aim of a Car Sales Trainee is to learn all aspects of the role whilst delivering customers a friendly, exciting, and genuine car buying experience (certainly not an old school, sleazy type of one!).
Your day-to-day looks like:
- Providing 5-star customer service (think hotel-like).
- Contacting and communicating with customers from various leads generated through the internet, social media, phone calls, emails, walk-ins, and referrals.
- Demonstrating the latest vehicles, the dealership has to offer.
- Taking customers on insightful test drives.
- Tailoring the vehicles to suit customer’s key requirements.
- Assist with the negotiation of price and terms (Don’t worry your Manager will be there to support you during this process).
- Provide your customers a professional vehicle handover on the pickup of their new vehicle.
- Participate in on-the-job training and professional development that is offered by the dealership.
By progressing from a trainee, you'll receive an increased remuneration package and commission plan with the ability to run your day, book your own appointments & sell as many cars as your heart desires.
No Car Sales experience required!
Previous experience in Car Sales is absolutely not required. We are recruiting candidates who enjoy connecting and engaging with people. Dealerships consider candidates from various customer-facing roles including: Health & Fitness, Hospitality, Retail, Sales, Real Estate or similar.
Do I receive training & support?
You sure do! You will receive:
- Sales & Product training from the dealership's Management team and Senior consultants.
- Specific product training by the new car manufacturer (e.g. if you are employed by a Toyota dealership you will have training provided by Toyota Australia
- Total Selling Solutions - The dealership can elect to enrol you in our specialised Online Sales Cadetship course
We are recruiting candidates who are customer service-focused, engaging, and bring an upbeat vibe to the room.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience in some form of customer service via the phone or face-to-face.
- Can communicate clearly.
- Take pride in being punctual, professional, and organised.
- Get enjoyment out of building lasting relationships and rapport with customers.
- Hold a current Australian driver's license and have your own transport.
- Are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.
- Are available to work most weekends (as that’s the dealership's busiest period)

- Typically, your commission plan will be offered once you progress from a trainee to a sales executive but is at the discretion of the dealership that employs you.
- After being hired, you will be required to undergo a half-day course to obtain a Cert 3 in Automotive Sales and apply for a Sales Licence. The license is yours (the individual) to sell cars and is enforced by the QLD Government. The cost for the Cert 3 and Sales Licence is Tax deductible and approximately $1000.
- Once you have successfully completed the traineeship and become a fully qualified Car Sales consultant, and after being employed for a period of 6 to 12 months, there is a possibility of receiving a car allowance incentive. However, the decision to provide this allowance is at the employer's discretion
