The Cardiac physiologists working within the Department of Cardiology, within the Heart and Lung program, assess and help treats patients with all forms of adult cardiovascular disease. The department comprises of outpatient clinics, investigation suites and an in-patient ward co-located with the Alfred Department of CardioThoracic Surgery. It has close links with the adjacently situated BakerIDI Heart and Diabetes Institute. In addition to patient care the Department has an extensive research and education programme.
Position Summary
This Grade 4 position will be responsible for the overall education and management of training for Cardiac Physiologists in the department. The Grade 4 Cardiac Physiologist Clinical Educator must have sound knowledge and performance in all technical aspects and be a proven expert with extensive specialised knowledge and performance. Preferred expertise in pacing, electrophysiology and Cardiac Catherisation Laboratory. The role will be expected to champion Safety and Quality and to be involved in the Department's research programs. The Cardiac Physiologist Clinical Educator is recognised as a clinical leader within the Physiologist team and forms part of the leadership group.
Qualfications and Experience Required
Academic:
- Science degree or recognised number of years in the profession (prior to the availability of appropriate degree courses).
- Completion of post graduate courses:
- IHBRE
- CEPIA
- NASPEx
- Extensive experience in multiple fields in Catheter laboratory procedures essential
- The ability to sympathetically relate to patients and to co-operate with Departmental and hospital staff.
