Flinders Medical Centre are looking for a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join their team in an ongoing role!
About the Role:
As a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, you will be accountable to the Director, Surgery and Perioperative Medicine Division through the Departmental Head. You will provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients of Flinders Medical Centre, both in terms of individual performance and by contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care, teaching and research.
Applicants for this position should have the following desirable characteristics:
- Recent (<2 years) experience in off-pump coronary artery surgery, mitral valve repair, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, and minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery.
- Recent (<5 years) experience in transcatheter aortic valve implantation via both transfemoral and alternate access approaches.
- Current expertise in organ retrieval and mechanical circulatory support including the use of the Impella device and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
- Research higher degree with demonstrated interest in research in cardiothoracic surgery.
- Demonstrated history of ability to function at a high level within a busy public hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery unit.
