About the opportunity
The Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) service is based on a partnership between families, the NSW Department of Community Justice (DCJ) and non-government service providers working to preserve the family structure and strengthen its functioning while keeping children safe. The program’s focus is to improve children’s safety, placement permanency and wellbeing.
The IFP service aims to keep children in their home in a safe, stable and nurturing family environment; improve parenting capacity and family functioning; improve children’s wellbeing; and prevent children from entering the OOHC system.
The IFP Case Manager is responsible for providing intensive case work for families, focused on parental vulnerabilities that affect the safety and wellbeing of children.

Essential Criteria
- Degree qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or Early Childhood Education
- Minimum of 2 years child protection case management experience
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of working with parents and children with complex needs
- Knowledge of child behaviour and development using a trauma informed approach.
- Ability to build strong relationships with families using a strength-based approach
- Ability to appropriately support families from diverse cultures
- Understanding of referral and resource options eg; Counselling, Housing, NDIS
- Understanding of the child protection framework within NSW and mandatory reporter obligations
- Highly developed skills in assessment, case plan writing, report writing
- Ability to prioritise competing demands while working independently
The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First aid & CPR certificates and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
