Case Manager – Aboriginal Throughcare (Family & Domestic Violence Program)
Full Time Contract until 30th June 2025
Who are we?
Outcare provides person centred care for people whose circumstances place them at risk of entry to the criminal justice system, or who are currently serving a sentence. The purpose of Outcare is to support people to regain direction and reintegrate into the community.
Our Aboriginal Throughcare program is based in our suite of Justice supports. The program comprises a variety of supports to men, women, and young women. It also comprises family Domestic Violence support. Case managers in our Aboriginal Throughcare program co-design support plans with clients and remove barriers to successful engagement with community services.
The Role:
We are seeking a Case Manager in our Aboriginal Throughcare Program to work as part of the Family and Domestic Violence Program. Successful candidates will be responsible for providing ongoing support and expertise for the planning and implementation of person-centered action plans that fulfill the reintegrating and re-connection of clients who have been or are at risk of being detained within the justice system.
This will involve the following:
Provide guidance and encouragement to clients to achieve agreed to goals as detailed in their action plan.
Previous experience / Willingness to facilitate Family and Domestic Violence Programs inside various justice settings.
Encourage positive relationships and support networks through role modelling.
Educate, encourage, and support clients to engage with internal and external support services.
Support clients to identify short and long-term goals.
Establish and maintain collaborative and supportive relationships with clients, service providers, other team members and the local community through demonstrating respect, empathy, and the willingness to understand differences in culture and customs.
Experience working successfully with clients experiencing systemic disadvantage as well as clients with a history of offending and re-offending.
Previous knowledge of barriers facing Aboriginal people in metropolitan Perth.

Key Experience and Qualifications:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Social Work, Community Services, Criminology) or relevant experience working in similar roles.
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural customs, and protocols, and the diversity of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Western Australia, including rural and remote areas.
Previous experience / Willingness to facilitate Family and Domestic Violence Programs inside various justice settings.
Experience and confidence in delivering mentoring, coaching, and modelling of culturally sensitive practice to team members.
Experience in establishing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with partner organisations and other stakeholders.
The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively and work well with people.
Other Employment Requirements:
- Australian Drivers licence
- Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate
- Police Clearance (within 3 months) – A criminal record does not make you ineligible to fill this position.
- Prison Clearance or the ability / willingness to gain one.
- Persons under current correctional supervision will not be considered for this role at this point in time.
