YOUR ROLE

In this diverse and rewarding role you will provide support to youth of Homelessness and Housing Services including undertaking case work with people experiencing homelessness and/or in danger of becoming homeless.You will be joining a supportive and inclusive environment for both our clients and employees. We value teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning to ensure the highest level of care and support for our clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to effective risk management procedure implementation compliant with legal and employment requirements
  • Conduct initial intakes and assessments
  • Provide information, resources, support, and crisis intervention where appropriate
  • Advocate on behalf of clients at Government Departments, Courts and other service providers
  • Undertake home visits in temporary accommodation
  • Create collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders and services
  • Attend to clients primary needs
  • Assist and/or supervise client, volunteer and student activities as directed
  • Where appropriate; develop case plans with clients, provide ongoing support to achieve the case plan and monitor, review and follow up the case plan
  • Maintain electronic/hand written client records and case notes as per service policy
  • Administrative duties as directed such as phone calls and mail
  • Collect and collate statistics and data as required
YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently undertaking tertiary study, in welfare or related field
  • Previous experience working with Youth is desirable
  • Awareness and Understanding of Trauma Informed Practices
  • Strong knowledge of Child Protection Legislation and Reporting requirements
  • Previous experience providing support to marginalised and vulnerable people support to homeless persons
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to homelessness including but not limited to family breakdown, mental illness, drug, alcohol and gambling addictions
  • Demonstrated awareness of appropriate local community support services for homeless clients, including government agencies and NGO's, and the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with such service providers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Sound computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Awareness and understanding of the Work Health and Safety legislation and a commitment to promoting safe work practices
  • Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations
  • NSW driver licence
