Job description

  • Family friendly, flexible environment
  • Provide comprehensive support - case management services
  • Hybrid position

Vinnies has been serving our local community since 1924, offering a “hand up” to people in need. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team making real differences to the lives of people experiencing disadvantage.

The position

If you're passionate about helping people, love driving and enjoy autonomy, this is an exciting opportunity to provide support to vulnerable people on the South Coast in Merimbula and surrounds. As a Case Worker in the Homelessness Services, Special Works Division, you'll support individuals with complex needs who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or facing social disadvantages.

In this role, you'll coordinate day-to-day activities including relationship management, case work, outreach, and support operations for those needing resources beyond local conference capabilities. You'll deliver holistic, sustainable case plans in collaboration with individuals and service providers, while also contributing to operational analysis and continuous business improvement.

This hybrid position provides flexibility with a mobile phone and laptop, enabling you to travel throughout the area as needed to meet the diverse needs of those we support. You'll deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring timely and appropriate communication and support services. By building individual capacity and empowering people to make informed choices, you'll enhance their living skills and confidence.

Join us in improving the 'value chain' of our Society through cross-program support and positive relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference and support our community's most vulnerable members.

Our Offer

  • Weekdays, part-time (30.4 hours per fortnight)
  • $47.50 hourly rate + 14% Superannuation
  • Salary packaging option up to $15,900 per FBT year, with an additional Meals and Entertainment package available up to $2,650 per FBT year
  • Flexible, family friendly work environment
  • A meaningful career where you can make a tangible difference to the lives of others.

About you

To excel in this role, you must view it as more than just a job. You should demonstrate a proven ability to handle diverse client types and programs, prioritize individual cases effectively, and work autonomously. Keeping abreast of relevant information and maintaining up-to-date knowledge is crucial.

Strong communication skills, a proactive and collaborative approach, resilience in adapting to change and challenging environments are essential. A bachelor’s degree in social work or community service is required, alongside proven experience in a related complex work environment. You should be adept at working both independently and as part of a team to achieve organizational goals, with keen attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operational use of record-keeping databases, including accurate data entry, is necessary. A current NSW driver's license, access to a registered and insured vehicle, and a valid First Aid Certificate are mandatory. Employment is contingent upon undertaking a National Criminal History Check and obtaining a current NSW Working with Vulnerable People/Children Card (WWVP, WWCC).
