About Our Organisation:

Youth Off The Streets is a not-for-profit youth organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. We offer crisis accommodation and housing services, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills and employment programs, cultural support and community engagement, among other services. We focus on early interventions that empower young people and strengthen communities.

The Dunlea Alcohol and Other Drug Youth Service was established to help young people take control of their drug use, by providing family, community, and mental health support services. 

The Role:

The main function of the role is to provide casework services for referred clients who are experiencing alcohol and other drug concerns, while managing a case load, delivering programs, liaising with local networks and meeting reporting requirements. Ultimately to address clients' short and long term issues and goals.

Selection Criteria, includes but is not limited to:

Qualifications: 

Tertiary qualifications in AOD, Social Science or a related field.

Experience:

• At least 1 years’ experience in case management of Young People.

Skills and knowledge:

• Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of case management theory, best practice principles, case coordination and adolescent development.
• Strong understanding of Child Safe principles, policies and responsibilities
• Awareness of risk factors associated with abuse and neglect of children and young people.
• An ability to effectively engage disconnected young people and work at the clients pace in a creative and flexible manner. 
• Awareness of legislation relevant to the position (i.e.: Child Protection and WHS).
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to accurately assess and evaluate the needs of young people and their families.
• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, communication and mediation skills.
• Experienced in the field of alcohol and other drugs.
• Ability to allocate and monitor cases within the case work team to ensure clients’ needs and program targets are met.
