Foyer Oxford provides young people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness with fully self-contained transitional housing for up to two years, combined with personalised 24/7 support and opportunities to access education, training and employment.
As the Drug Education and Support Worker you will play a key role in providing high quality, comprehensive alcohol and other Drug Education services to young people accessing our service. You will assess young people’s strengths and challenges in relation to substance use, motivation and independence and actively contribute to their case management goal planning. This role is essential to supporting young people to meet their goals through building and maintaining professional networks in the youth and homelessness support sector, facilitating referrals, providing informal counselling and Support approaches, and coordinating development programs with a focus on harm minimisation and promoting mental health and wellbeing.
This is a one year full time parental leave cover contract based in Leederville.
What you will bring
You are a passionate, resilient, and well experienced youth worker who is driven to deliver quality supports to young people.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Diploma level qualification in Human Services, combined with significant skills and experience in youth work, or tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Work or related behavioural science discipline (must meet current requirement for eligibility for full membership with Youth Work WA)
- Case management and assessment skills
- Ability to accept, respect and work with young people:
- from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities
- from different cultures, particularly with Aboriginal & CaLD young people
- who may identify as LGBTI
- from all belief systems
- Up to date knowledge of resources in the youth services field, including alcohol and other drugs, education, training and employment
- Understanding of youth housing and accommodation systems
- Strong practice ethos in being person centred, trauma informed and strength based in your approaches
The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year and a current WA Working with Children Check.

- Salary starting from $84K + 11.5% superannuation
- Salary packaging of up to $15,900 (which equates to circa $4K after tax) plus additional salary packaging of up to $2,650 for meal and entertainment expenses
- Additional 3 days leave per year over festive period
