Greenacres is one of the leading disability service providers in the region, providing services and programs from 24 different sites in Wollongong, Shellharbour, and the Shoalhaven. Each week we support over 600 people to live the life they imagine by delivering a range of person-centered services and have been doing this across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven for over 70 years.

About the Role

We are looking for Casual Disability Support Workers to work within our Community Life and Leisure Department. The successful applicants will work across three of our sites in the Shoalhaven. You must be available to work different shifts, including overnight and weekends.

We are seeking people who have a genuine desire to support people with disability who have varied support needs. You will be providing opportunities for our participants to experience life and achieve goals through learning new skills, participating in social and recreational activities and employment opportunities. 

As a member of the Greenacres team, you will be working with experienced, caring, enthusiastic and creative people who are committed to providing excellent service to the participants we support and their families.

We have a wide range of shifts available across a seven-day roster. Shifts are flexible and so are we. Hours may vary depending on participant demand at individual sites and centres.  

Key Responsibilities for a Disability Support Worker

Tasks may include but are not limited to;

• The development of life and social skills, personal care, manual handling, meal preparation, and adhering to specialist plans and medication administration processes.

The operations and services provided by Greenacres is governed and assessed against the NDIS, ‘National Disability Insurance Scheme’ Guidelines and Practice Standards. You must clearly understand, adhere and deliver quality services aligned to the NDIS Practice Standards and NDIS Code of Conduct.

Required Skills:

1. Enthusiastic and passionate about supporting people with disability.
2. Commitment to being flexible and responsive to our participants' needs and goals.
3. Ability to support people with complex care needs.
4. Reliability and accountability while working within a dedicated, high-performing team.

Desirable Skills:

1. Personal or professional experience supporting people with disability.
2. Certificate III in Individual Support or related qualification.
3. Previous experience using Outlook, time and attendance applications and experience using a client management software package.

4. NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) 
5. Working with Children's Check
6. The Right to Work in Australia
