Jaggery Pty Ltd is seeking casual staff for both front of house or in the kitchen as kitchenhand or line chef/Chef De Partie in our renowned and well-known restaurant.
Salary Range: Dependent on position and commensurate with experience
Front of House (Wait Person, Server)
Responsibilities:
• Must be able to show hospitality to all of our guests
• Seat guests, take orders, serve food and drinks, clear tables and reset them for the next customers
• Answer questions, attend to the needs of our guests
• Communicate clearly with your colleagues including bar staff, kitchen staff, other wait people and restaurant manager as required
• Be able to answer the phone/take bookings
• Adhere to food safety regulations, follow company procedures
• Assist restaurant manager with other tasks on request
• Have current Victorian RSA and Food Handlers Certification
You must be comfortable with stairs (the restaurant is over 2 levels). Our ideal candidate will be friendly and flexible and committed to providing excellent customer service to our guests. Enjoy working in close-knit and friendly environments and provide excellent customer service. Knowledge of food & wine is a plus but ongoing training is provided.
Kitchen Staff (Casual Line Chef/Chef De Partie role) - 2-3 days per week
Responsibilities
• Preparation and cooking of food in accordance with our menu
- Ensuring food handling and storage is in accordance with food handling regulations and is of the highest standard.
- Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements.
• Comfortable to work across multiple stations within the kitchen and to assist the head chef/sous chef or kitchen team with tasks as required
• Appropriate plating and apportioning of prepared meals and ensuring food presentation meets with the standard
• Ensure food handling and storage per food/health/hygiene regulations
• Ensure that your work area, equipment and section are kept clean at all times, in accordance with health and hygiene, and strictly implementing our OH&S policies.
• Experience on the grill highly desirable.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- AQF Associate Degree, Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma certification in relevant Hospitality qualification.
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods and operating kitchen tools and equipment
- Ability to work casual/part time hours with the ability to move into full time hours in the future
Kitchen Staff (Casual Kitchenhand) 2-3 days per week.
• Scraping of all plates/utensils into the bin
• Rinsing of plates/cutlery/dishes/ etc
• Correct loading of dishwasher and ensuring all plates/vessels/utensils are washed clean and dried/stored appropriately
• Ensure that dishwasher iscleaned at the end of each shift and everything is returned to its place of storage
• Assist kitchen team including chefs in preparation for service as required
• Follow the appropriate hygiene/chemical handling procedures at all times
This role may include some heavy lifting of produce/cleaning products etc. It would suit someone interested in the hospitality industry and who may be interested in pursuing a chef career or alternatively someone that requires flexible hours. The role will mainly be at night but some morning/afternoon shifts may be required.
