An exciting opportunity has presented to make a valuable contribution to the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of Council’s immunisation service.
Our Immunisation Nurses support the Immunisation Service to administer vaccines to the community in schools, at mass community settings and in the workplaces.
Being engaged on a casual basis will see shifts offered on weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends.
A little bit about the role
Reporting to the Clinical Lead Immunisation Nurse, this role will assist and deliver vaccinations and other related activities at Council operated immunisation sessions.
The Immunisation Nurse will be required to administer childhood and adult vaccinations in a mass immunisation setting and attend schools to provide vaccinations in support of the adolescent Immunisation program. Furthermore, will assist on the development of catch-up plans for clients with missed vaccinations and overseas records and provide assistance in medical related emergencies following immunisation.
The role will also be responsible for:
- Responding to immunisation related medical enquiries from members of the community, schools, SAEFVIC and other agencies.
- Attending to home visit immunisations as requested.
- Adhering to the Strive for Five cold chain management guidelines.
What you will bring to the role?
You will have strong and demonstrated understanding of the current edition of the Australian Immunisation Handbook and other related guidelines, procedures, and policies.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating an efficient and courteous manner when dealing with the public. You will also have a sound computer and administration skills with a high attention to detail along with demonstrated experience working in mass immunisation programs.
Qualifications & Employment Requirements
- Registered Nurse Division 1, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Current Nurse Immuniser Certificate approved by the Department of Health
- Hold a current CPR and Anaphylaxis Management Certificate (or working to obtain this)
- Experience providing vaccinations to infants and children (desirable)
- Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
- Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
- All City of Boroondara employees must be fully vaccinated. Appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to provision of evidence of vaccination status or medical exemption prior to commencement.
