Job Description
Step into the dynamic 6PR newsroom-a highly motivated team of journalists providing live, local content to a diverse audience. As a Casual Journalist, you'll be immersed in Perth's news scene, ensuring every noteworthy event is covered on 6PR. Join us in the heart of the action!
Responsibilities:
Day to day will include but won't be limited to:
- Research, write, and edit news content for radio bulletins and on-air programs.
- Meet tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
- Collaborate with radio programs and colleagues at Nine Perth and WAtoday.
- Cultivate professional relationships with key sources and stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation during interviews and events.
- Keep up to date with local, national, and international news.
- Attend relevant conferences to stay informed and enhance knowledge.
- Actively participate in team meetings and discussions.
- Support team members during high-pressure situations.
What we would like to see on your resume:
- Degree in journalism or reasonable equivalent qualification
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of broadcast techniques
- Knowledge of ethical and editorial standards for news writing and broadcasting
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, conventions and protocols relating to the delivery of news and public affairs content
- Knowledge of the Perth market
- Knowledge of news and public affairs radio program production
- Class C driver's licence
- Experience in a radio newsroom is highly desirable
- Audio editing for news bulletin
