Casual Retail Duty Manager

The Market Place IGA in Mt Lawley and Ballajura are newly renovated IGA supermarkets. We are a family business with a focus on fresh and gourmet food and are looking for hard-working, friendly people to join our team. 

The roles are for casual, Duty Manager positions with variable working hours, anywhere from 1 shift per week to multiple shifts per week. The majority of weekday work will be afternoon/evening shifts up to 9:15pm. Weekend work would vary from opening and closing shifts.

**YOU MUST BE 18+ TO APPLY FOR THIS JOB - Due to Tobacco selling laws, you must be 18 years of age or older, please do not apply if you are a minor.

You must also complete a Responsible Service of Alcohol course online if you were to work at the Ballajura store due to a liquor store next door being part of the management of the store.

As a casual supervisor, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the store when the store manager is not on duty. As both stores are smaller in size, this is a HANDS ON role that involves general store duties on top of the supervisor role. This position is not an office job. 

There may be some shifts you are required to work in a non-supervisory capacity as well, depending on availability of other staff and how many shifts you are looking for. The pay rates range start at around $30/hr to $35/hr (for 21 years old and over) depending on the position you work in. The rates go up for evening, weekend and public holiday work.

Your responsibilities would include: 

• Management of staff
• Opening/Closing the store
• Handling customer issues & general customer service
• General store duties such as:
  • Stock replenishment
  • Some checkout work
  • Receiving deliveries
  • Keeping the store in a clean and tidy manner

The successful applicant will be friendly, willing to do whatever needs to be done, will always be accommodating to our customers while fitting in with the culture of the store. We expect successful applicants to lead by example with a strong work ethic and helping out wherever is needed.

Skills required for the role include:

• Being self-motivated and willing to do what needs to be done to keep the store running smoothly
• Being able to capably lead staff and delegate responsibilities to team members
• Having good time-management skills
• Working well with other people and having a team-focussed approach in helping others when needed
• Being a good communicator who is always friendly to our customers.
• Having a strong focus in merchandising stock in an appealing way
• Willing to uphold high store standards

We are a 7 day a week business so there will be weekend, night and public holiday work required. Weekend and afternoon/evening work is essential for successful applicants.

This is a perfect job for a uni/TAFE student as we're happy to work around your schedule.

While prior supervising/management experience is not required, we are looking for people with some retail experience looking to take the next step in their career.
