The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a dynamic Category Lead to join our team, based in Forrestdale. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the development, execution, and management of sourcing strategies for H- E Parts. You will be influential in delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring contractual compliance, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and driving strategic procurement initiatives. Your contributions will be pivotal in shaping the potential pathway of our procurement strategy, fostering a culture of performance excellence aligned with the One H-E Way.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

Strategy Development and Execution:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies, aligning with organizational goals and governance standards.
  • Drive culture by actively contributing to company strategy development and ensuring alignment with procurement objectives.

Bid Management and Contract Negotiation:

  • Facilitate end-to-end bidding processes, including prequalification, bid preparation, issuance, evaluation, and contract finalisation.
  • Collaboration both internally and externally, ensuring clarity and alignment among stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favourable terms while adhering to contractual obligations and budgetary constraints.

Contract Performance Monitoring:

  • Establish and maintain robust methods to monitor contract performance against agreed SLAs, providing timely insights through coordinated reporting.
  • Proactively identify and address changes from contractual obligations, recommending remedial actions to mitigate risks and optimise performance.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration, resolve disputes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement early dispute resolution mechanisms to minimize disruptions and maintain seamless operations.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate effectively with various business units, understanding their unique objectives, and integrating procurement strategies to support complex spend categories.
  • Lead post-project reviews to capture lessons learned, drive process improvements, and enhance overall procurement efficiency.

Contract Management Solutions:

  • Develop and implement contract management tools, guidelines, and manuals to standardize processes and facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Provide guidance on technological solutions to streamline procurement operations and enhance efficiency.

Market Intelligence and Analysis:

  • Conduct regular market surveys to gather up-to-date information, enabling informed decision-making and proactive adaptation to market dynamics.

About You

To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, with a focus on Mining Equipment or related categories, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools; familiarity with procurement software and technological solutions.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Fluency in Mandarin would be desirable but is not essential.
