The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) are the caretakers of Perth’s cemeteries, entrusted to commemorate the lives of Western Australians now and into the future. We respectfully help family and friends honour the lives of loved ones and safeguard memories for future generations.
MCB is recruiting for a pool of Grounds staff to fill vacancies for the next 12 months at our Karrakatta, Padbury, Fremantle, Midland, Guildford and Rockingham sites.
About you
· Relevant Trade Certificate e.g. Certificate III in Horticulture or substantial demonstrated experience in landscaping/horticulture
· Ability to work in a flexible team environment
· Sound interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate sensitively and deliver high standards of customer service
· Experience in a physically demanding outdoor environment

About the role
We are seeking compassionate and professional workers to join our Grounds Teams, to provide a seamless and high quality service to clients in our beautiful cemeteries.
Grounds Workers will be responsible for:
· Carrying out and maintaining general maintenance and landscaping of garden/lawn areas and grounds
· Operating and performing basic maintenance on horticultural equipment
· Participating as required in the development and implementation of appropriate work team plans
· Reporting and assisting in the timely resolution of grounds maintenance complaints and enquiries

Eligibility Requirements
- The recommended applicant will need to provide a National Police Clearance prior to appointment that is less than 6 months old from date of issue or obtain one prior to appointment. A criminal conviction may not preclude you from gaining employment.
- Australian permanent residency is a minimum requirement for permanent appointment to the West Australian Public Sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.
