We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Alcohol and Drug Service.
A vacancy exists in the Alcohol and Drug Service for a highly motivated Centralised Intake Worker with the appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be the first point of contact for people 16 years and over, including individuals and families that are seeking treatment for substance misuse. The incumbent will be responsible for engaging with and assessing clients at the initial point of contact and triage to the most appropriate service. The incumbent will contribute to the efficient flow of clients from intake to inpatient, outpatient and other external settings as appropriate to the caller. The successful applicant will be able to act as an advocate to assist callers, their families/carers and services to make an informed decision on treatment. The incumbent will collect, collate and disseminate information, especially external service information that will be useful to staff and identify and implement strategies that will improve service access processes and procedures as required.

We are seeking a skilled and energetic Centralised Intake Worker who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are Manager to include desired experience/attributes.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in nursing, counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association
3. Demonstrated knowledge of drug and alcohol health issues in a primary health care, community and/or inpatient setting
4. Demonstrated computer literacy with email, Microsoft office and an electronic patient record system
5. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritize competing workloads with in a complex environment
6. Ability to work within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
7. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse
8.Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
