Kidman Park Community Children's Centre is seeking a COOK to prepare nutritional meals for the children in our care using rotational menus at our centre located in Kidman Park.
The position provides and opportunity to work autonomously, in a supportive work environment.
This is a part time position, with the appealing hours of 8am to 1pm, Monday to Friday, above award wages, and additional leave days each year.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the health and wellbeing of the children through the planning and preparation of nutritious meals and snacks.
- Carrying out the preparation of food for the children at the Centre.
- Maintain Food Safety Plan daily documentation
- Ensuring the kitchen environment and equipment is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Prepare shopping lists each fortnight based on menu planning
- Communicating with Educators regarding specific dietary requirements of children and assisting them with clearing away after meals.
- Implementing the menu for the service on a timely basis taking into consideration Kidman Park Community Children’s Centre’s Food and Nutrition policies
The right candidate will have…
- Experience in cooking for a group setting within a specific time frame
- Current Working With Children Check (or be willing to obtain)
- Responding to Abuse and Neglect Training (or be willing to obtain)
- Current Food Safety Training
- Completed or Willingness to get a Food Safety Supervisor certification (centre will pay for this)
Desirable Criteria…
- Experience in dietary and allergy safe requirements
- Ability to work well independently but also with in a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good time management skills
