Job description

The Change Officer will assist the Head of Change through providing operational support across the business including assessing readiness for change, capacity and resilience as well as identifying points of resistance and mitigation strategies.

You will work both autonomously and as part of a team, working alongside the Head of Change within a supportive team of People and Culture, Project Management and Strategy specialists and engaging across the organisation supporting change in an aeromedical environment.

Your persistence, positive attitude and enthusiasm for listening, learning and continuous improvement will help you to succeed in this role.

 

About you

  • Relevant experience in a similar role or qualifications in a relevant field (change management, business management, communications or similar disciplines)
  • Understanding of change management as evidenced by a Prosci or similar certification, and/ or relevant professional body memberships
  • Demonstrated experience building strong working relationships 
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, sometimes working with incomplete information
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on quantifying and measuring success 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication skills across a range of mediums 
  • Experience with Sharepoint Intranet or a similar drag and drop builder (desirable)

 

About the role

  • Engage across the organisation to understand change management requirements for an organisational transformation project
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to understand project scope and timelines
  • Deliver initial change assessments for projects, bases and business units 
  • Identify and escalate cross stream change management impacts and dependencies
  • Maintain a change management register and change risk register
  • Deliver ongoing assessments to projects, bases and business units to help to identify points of resistance and knowledge blocks 
  • Analyse and assess the effectiveness of change interventions to recommend more targeted strategies
  • Support the development of the change function through developing a continuous improvement mindset
  • Track the ongoing effectiveness of change interventions 
  • Report regularly on the current status of change management for projects

About Us

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.

 

The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.

 

In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA’s most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
