We are inviting applications for Head Chef to look after 60 aged care residents at our Peter Badcoe House facility in Newcastle. This role will see you reporting to the facility manager whilst working in a supportive and collaborative team environment.
An experienced Head chef with a passion for aged care who can pave the way to success and will thrive in this role!
Responsibilities of a Chef would be, but not limited to:
- Preparation, planning, and cooking of various fresh hot and cold dishes and desserts for our residents, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Ensuring all meals are prepared whilst keeping resident choices, allergies, and recommendations in mind
- Oversee the day-to-day supervision of kitchen and catering employees
- Complying with all infection control protocols and safe food handling procedures
- Managing the day to day operation of the kitchen including the ordering and stock control, kitchen hygiene and food safety documentation
- Ensuring a positive dining experience for our residents
- Adhere to the Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures of RSL LifeCare and participate in and promote WHS activities as required
Skills and Experience required:
- Certificate 4 in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
- Experience in leading and managing catering operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate a large team
- Ability to plan and implement catering services, ensuring a holistic approach and having regard for the resident
- Demonstrated understanding of quality control in food preparation and delivery within an aged care setting.
- Verifiable experience in the preparation and delivery of meals - ideally in an aged care facility, but we will also consider a hospitality setting, such as a café, club, or pub
- Australian Working Rights
It is a mandatory requirement for a team member working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid Police Check or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of the role. Clearances must be verified prior to commencing employment with RSL LifeCare.
