PORTENO is a two-hatted restaurant under the Porteno Group in Surry Hills. We are looking for a qualified and experienced chef to work in our front line section, cooking with fire. You need to be highly organised, immaculately clean and enjoy working as a part of a team. Reliability, a stable background and proven experience (minimum 2 years) within a similar role is important.
In this position you'll have the ability to work alongside award winning chefs Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz, where you will grow, learn new cooking techniques and develop business knowledge

Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to recipes and menu specifications.
Cook and plate dishes to ensure they meet our quality standards and presentation guidelines.
Monitor taste, appearance, and temperature of dishes to ensure they meet customer expectations.
Maintain a clean and organised workstation, following sanitation guidelines and proper food handling procedures.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and FOH staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
Manage time efficiently, prioritise tasks, and handle busy periods with professionalism and composure.
Adapt to changing circumstances, such as rush hours or last-minute menu changes, without compromising quality.
Collaborate with other kitchen team members to support each other and ensure a cohesive working environment.Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and feedback to help them develop their skills.
Uphold company standards for food quality, safety, and consistency at all times.
Qualification & Experience- A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Be flexible with working hours

In 2006, the Porteno Group commenced its journey with the establishment of their inaugural restaurant, "Bodega," situated in Surry Hills. Following four successful years, the team unveiled their second highly acclaimed restaurant, Porteno, located on Cleveland Street in Surry Hills. In December 2016, Porteno was relocated to 50 Holt Street in Surry Hills. Subsequently, the Holt Street premises underwent expansion, transforming into a dining precinct that houses Porteno, Bodega, Humble Bakery, and Bastardo. Each of these venues presents a distinctive and unparalleled dining experience.
