About the Restaurant and Role
Kimchi & Bab Korean/Japanese Restaurant is located at 6 Derby road Caulfield East Vic.3145. We offer traditional and modern Korean cuisine and a few of Japanese cuisine to our customers. With the fast development of our restaurant we need a capable Chef to manage the restaurant’s kitchen and prepare gourmet food for the diners to guarantee a high standard of food quality and customer’s satisfaction.
Job Purpose:
Oversees a restaurant's kitchen by managing other members of the food preparation team, adjusting orders to meet guests' requests. Ensures food safety and OH&S guidelines are met at all times.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Develops recipes and determines how to present the food
• Plans menus and ensures uniform serving sizes and quality of meals
• Checks freshness of food and ingredients
• Employs food safety best practices and makes sure that all kitchen staff members do the same
• Inspects supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
• Supervises and coaches other kitchen staff, so they perform at their best
• Works quickly and accurately during busy periods
• Communicates with the owner on matters of ordering and stock levels/ rotation
• Monitors food quality and sanitation practices and implements kitchen safety standards
• Other duties as directed.
• Responsible for the planning, preparation and production of food
• Maintain and order stocks and supplies
• Ensure the hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen and food counters achieve total customer satisfaction and meet company standards
Skills Required:
• Understanding of food safety
• Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team
• Excellent communication and presentation
• Time management and organizational skills
• Good knowledge and proven experience in Asian cuisine (especially Korean, Chinese or Japanese cuisine) is essential
• Good knife and cooking skills
• Willingness to supervise and coach other kitchen employees to improve skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Motivated and efficient
• Ability to work under pressure
• Good personal hygiene
Experience and Qualification Required:
• Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience (preferably Korean cuisine experience)
• Associate degree in Diploma or above qualification (at least 3 years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification requirement)
