ACBC QLD seeks a Brisbane-based Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the branch’s activities in Queensland, for the benefit of ACBC QLD’s members and wider stakeholders.
Founded in 1973, ACBC is Australia’s peak bilateral business council promoting trade and investment ties between Australia and China. With branches in each state/territory, ACBC provides knowledge, networks and advocacy to support its members engage with China.
ACBC QLD is overseen by an Executive Committee, consisting of senior representatives from government, business and industry. The Executive Committee, through ACBC QLD’s President, works closely with ACBC’s National Board.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Queensland President and accountable to ACBC QLD’s Executive Committee.
The CEO works closely with the Executive Committee and stakeholders, including ACBC QLD’s Industry Working Groups, to develop and deliver high quality events and services to members, and to grow ACBC QLD’s member and sponsorship base. The CEO also liaises with the ACBC National CEO (including on branch reporting) and other Branch CEOs on matters relevant to the branch.
The CEO works independently in a highly autonomous role and is responsible for managing a small team. The CEO works with and manages a wide range of stakeholders as well as representing ACBC QLD in public forums. At a time of improved bilateral relations between Australia and China, the CEO will have demonstrated and relevant experience and skills to support and advance positive engagement with members and the wider Queensland-China business community.
The CEO will have strong interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills to effectively engage and build relationships with members and other key stakeholders. Prior experience in engaging with various levels of government and in the not-for-profit sector (including membership-based organizations), as well as in fundraising and in securing other revenue streams would be highly regarded.
High level experience in marketing and event management will be required to deliver effective member services and events, including roundtables, seminars, briefings as well as large scale events and networking functions.
The position requires strong personal drive, integrity and the ability to work under pressure with limited resources. Candidates would ideally be able to demonstrate relevant experience and understanding of China (particularly in the business context (trade and investment), including Australia-China relations. Mandarin language capability would be an advantage

Salary: Remuneration will be negotiated according to experience and qualifications
