Omega Oil and Gas Ltd (Omega) is an ASX listed company, which was floated on 25 October 2022, with a vision to become a leader in supporting Australia’s future energy demands by realising value in Australia’s immense gas assets.

The Opportunity
This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated emerging leader, who may or may not yet have held a C-Suite position. Reporting to the Board and liaising with the Chairman, Executive Directors and other Advisors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the planning and execution of this existing exploration activity and present future opportunities for growth.
Leadership and Strategy
- Undertake a full review of the existing organisation and make short, medium, and long-term recommendations to the Board that can facilitate business improvement and growth.
- Develop future business plans, budgets, and strategies for consideration by the Board. In particular, future strategies should consider growth opportunities and divestment of non-core assets.
- Provided timely Board reports on Omega's so as to reasonably position the Board to fulfil its governance responsibilities.
- Provide strong and clear leadership to the organisation and over time adequately resource to achieve its objectives.
Safety, Regulatory Compliance and Risk
- Identify and manage operational and corporate risks and formulate strategies for managing and mitigating those risks.
- Manage Omega’s financial and other reporting mechanisms, to ensure that these mechanisms and systems capture all relevant material information.
- Establish and drive a strong safety culture.
- Oversee regulatory compliance (i.e. environment, land access) and implement processes that facilitate compliance with applicable laws.
Technical
- Take ownership of Omega’s exploration strategy and lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver on technical objectives.
- Prepare technical proposals to justify proposed exploration programs in order to support capital allocation and budgets.
- Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of sub-surface data and the preparation of technical recommendations.
- Monitor the delivery of Omega’s exploration strategy and identify the need for change as new information becomes available.
Business Development
- Leverage industry relationships to identify and generate high-quality oil and gas growth opportunities.
- Develop tools which identify, benchmark, and rank potential farm in and acquisition opportunities against projects that are currently held by other operators.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of the oil and gas markets and build appropriate forecasts into all assessments of project returns.
Market Facing / Stakeholder Management
- Participate in business and professional associations, networks, and activities relevant to Omega’s interests.
- Build strong relationships with external stakeholders.
- Oversee preparation of all required ASX announcements and reports, delivering a timely and high-quality work product to the Board for approval.
- Run capital raising programs for future projects and opportunities.
Required Experience
- Degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geophysics or Petroleum Engineering.
- 15+ years' experience in an exploration role within the oil and gas industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and a high degree of integrity.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing safety.
- Energy and hands on ability to personally execute and manage execution of tasks, regardless of materiality, in a resource constrained small company environment.
- Experienced at preparing materials for Board approvals and presenting to Boards.
