Hancock Agriculture, incorporating 2GR Wagyu, Hancock Pastoral and
S. Kidman & Co, is a world-class agribusiness and one of the country’s highest quality producers of beef, with a strong focus on animal welfare, safety and innovation.
The current asset portfolio encompasses extensive pastoral properties in Qld, WA and the NT, Wagyu backgrounding and feeding operations in Southern Qld and Northern NSW, as well as fodder and cropping operations. There is a continuing interest in targeting high quality strategic investments to grow the business.
The Position
Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO is accountable for leading the organisation through future growth with responsibility for executing the overall direction and coordination of all activities of Hancock Agriculture.
This includes achieving the growth objectives of the Board, through the development of strategies, operating models, organisational structure, staffing and budgets that support these strategies. The CEO will also represent the business externally, upholding successful relationships with business partners.
The Person
We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following key skills and experience:
- Significant background and profile in the agricultural sector at CEO/MD level, ideally with an extensive and diverse high-level network and involvement in a production enterprise.
- Ability to develop, with the Board, a clear strategy and direction forward for the organisation and successfully execute through a capable and committed team, adopting a “make it happen” approach.
- Proven commercial literacy, able to detail material improvements in financial outcomes in a competitive environment.
- Experience reporting to a Board in relation to managing the governance requirements of a complex business.
- Awareness of industry developments and economic factors relevant to investment, divestment and acquisition decisions.
- Working knowledge of animal and non-animal productivity factors that drive optimal commercial outcomes.
- Outstanding interpersonal and commercial negotiation skills to interact with a broad range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of how to interact with government in relation to the agricultural political environment.
- Well-developed strategic thinking and problem-solving ability to execute in a complex environment.
- High level commitment to animal welfare, safety, quality, technology and innovation.
- A reputation for being an authentic and inclusive leader capable of sustaining a collaborative and high performing team culture.
- Distinct commitment, drive and energy with a motivating and inspiring style.
- Tertiary qualifications in Agribusiness/Business, Commerce or similar with post graduate qualifications highly regarded
