About Bowen Gumlu Growers Association
Bowen Gumlu Growers Association (BGGA) represents the interests of growers, producers and the farming communities of North Queensland. The association’s key activities include representation, support services, industry development and the delivery of projects and events focused on improving on-farm practices, commercial outcomes for farming businesses and the prosperity of our regional communities.
Role Description
As the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead all aspects of organisational management including:
- Leads and communicates organisational vision, purpose, values and strategic direction throughout the organisation.
- Leads and maintains the associations advocacy role as a key voice on behalf of members.
- Leads, develops and maintains strategic partnerships with industry, government, political networks and the media.
- Monitors trends to anticipate future demand for organisational response or services.
- Ensures the organisation is compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations and statutory requirements including Company Secretary responsibilities.
- Develops, manages and monitors financially responsible budget linked to strategic directions and operational plan.
- Challenges, motivates, mentors, monitors, and evaluates staff toward the achievement of organisational goals and strategic directions.
- Promotes a safe and healthy working environment for staff.
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving strategies and makes sound and timely decisions.
- Monitors risk and responds promptly and effectively to critical / serious incidents and situations.
- Works effectively with the Board to develop, refine, monitor, and achieve strategic directions and operational plans.
- Communicates constructively, appropriately, and effectively with the Board and ensures strong organisational governance.
- Evaluates progress and results of programs, projects and services and reports regularly to the Board.
- Implements Board policies and directions promptly and effectively.
- Sets the tone for the association staff and volunteers to have member service as their primary focus.
- Communicates in a dignified, courteous and respectful manner and at all times acts appropriately in the performance of duties.
Selection Criteria
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role
- Able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder and business networks, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Able to demonstrate strong business and board governance skills, developing and executing strategic and operational plans and policies.
- Able to effectively lead, monitor and manage staff, contractors and suppliers.
- Able to demonstrate project/program management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to demonstrate high level financial and professional management skills to maintain effective operational leadership and business growth.
- Able to demonstrate a strong business acumen, mature minded, customer focused and commercially discreet.
- Able to demonstrate project/program management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to engage with the media, deliver professional and public presentations and provide high level communication.
- A current open Queensland drivers license and the ability to travel throughout North Queensland is essential.
