- Support a community that's rich in culture and environment
- Drive and influence a key change and transformation agenda
- Finance and Governance oversight of a vibrant regional Council
Located in central Australia, Alice Springs is one of the country's most recognised and iconic regional centres. Set within a unique natural locale and featuring a close-knit and vibrant community that boasts strong cultural heritage, Alice Springs Town Council's commitment to change and transformation makes this one of the most diverse and rewarding career opportunities currently available in the Local Government sector.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and a crucial member of Council's Executive Leadership Team, this role will be responsible for financial management and sustainability, governance, legal services, procurement and risk management. Additionally, you will have oversight for the provision of high-performing enabling services to the organisation, and embrace a pivotal role in Council's exciting transformational change agenda. These are exciting times for Alice Springs and this is an exceptional opportunity for a focused, ambitious senior executive who thrives on managing change, developing long term strategies and inspiring high-performing teams towards shared community-motivated objectives.
It is essential that you possess tertiary qualifications in a relevant field of expertise (eg accounting, finance, business), along with CA/CPA qualifications. Aligned with your demonstrable experience in long-term financial planning and strategy, understanding capital expenditure and grants funding, and organisational financial sustainability, Local Government experience will be advantageous but solid contemporary experience working within a project-driven environment will also be considered favourably. Your previous leadership experience in a similar role at this level will be required to provide demonstrated innovation and value for money services for the Alice Springs community.
We're seeking a Chief Financial Officer who is dynamic, agile, authentic, self-assured and confident - one who has a good sense of humour and can energetically contribute to the team's discovery of their own journey then facilitating them on their pathway. Someone who truly demonstrates Council's corporate values and is ready to immerse themselves into a thriving regional community that is looking to the future and ready for change.
