We are a jaw droppingly unique company! Whilst we are an envirotech start-up creating infinite recycling to end plastic pollution, we are also building an incredible place to work. Due to rapid growth and expansion and off the back of our recent Series A capital raise, we are looking for a Chief Operating Officer.
THE ROLE...
In this highly influential role reporting to our CEO and as part of the executive leadership team, you will further develop, lead and empower our operations team to deliver on our strategic plan.
You will be accountable for the setup and operationalisation of R&D and Commercial scale lines and for establishing the facilities that house them. This includes the delivery of our Commercial Innovation Hub in Canberra and our first full production site in Victoria. There is a lot of work to do as we scale-up!
As a great people enabler, you will provide direction and focus whilst working towards (but not limited to) the following key priorities within the next 12-24 months:
Deliver the Commercial Innovation Hub facility in Canberra, including taking a leading role in the design and fitout of the facility
Continue and complete the procurement of plant and equipment to demonstrate the R&D lines.
Lead the construction and commissioning of the R&D lines in the Commercial Innovation Hub
Full accountability for the operationalising of the R&D lines which includes material supply, waste management, OHS, Change Management, etc
Lead and manage Continuous Improvement processes that inform future implementations.
Participate closely in the Detailed Design of a Commercial Line in Melbourne
Oversee the operational setup (layout, end-stage construction, commissioning, operation) of a production facility in Victoria
Develop robust reporting and production disciplines.

ABOUT YOU...
Samsara is open minded as to the background and experience of the successful candidate. However the following attributes would be highly desirable:
You are a highly experienced Project Manager with a technical and scientific mind who is down to earth and pragmatic in their approach and has set up facilities previously - ideally multiple times
You possess an innate ability to harness know-how from a range of roles to create systems needed to turn Samsara from a plan to an operational reality.
You have the intellectual agility and gravitas to partner with the CEO to work with the Board Directors, investors and Industry partners with a clear purpose and mandate to save the planet with Samsara’s technology
You are a purpose-driven leader who deeply believes in Samsara’s purpose and the important role we will play in creating the most impactful recycling company.
You have strong financial and commercial acumen and outstanding critical path analysis skills
You have outstanding communications skills and an ability to build relationships with external and internal stakeholders from all levels which makes you a true enabler
You have a focus on safety, a passion for continuous improvement and ideally a working understanding of chemistry
You have an ability to embrace change and work at the fast pace of a scale up business, but more importantly, embrace it safely and practically. Your success will in part be driven by your attention to detail but also you 80/20 mentality where required to achieve critical milestones but not compromise the integrity of the technology and product
Degree qualified e.g. Chemical Engineering
Ideally, we would like our COO to be based in Canberra or Sydney. Some travel will be required to establish the first facility that is expected to be in Melbourne.
