This position will be based at Narrangy-Booris – Menai Community Health Centre NSW.
Menai is located on the Traditional Lands of the local Dharawal people in the Sutherland Shire LHD. The role also works across the St George LHD which is located on the Traditional Lands of the Bidjigal people.

The primary role of the Aboriginal Health Worker is to provide culturally appropriate care for mothers and babies from birth to school entry age and to provide extensive cultural, practical, and emotional support to the families.
The model of care is primarily based on Aboriginal Child and Family Healthcare, focusing on Personal Health Record checks, early intervention/prevention strategies and implementing culturally appropriate healthcare and education on closing the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians.
The role of the AHW is to ensure the client receives a culturally appropriate service, participates in the delivery of high quality, culturally appropriate postnatal care, education and support for Aboriginal babies, mothers, their families, and carers.
The role provides the cultural link between the Multidisciplinary Team and the Aboriginal Community. As the Aboriginal Health Worker you will be involved in the delivery of cultural awareness education, health promotion and initiatives.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
