This is a newly created role. The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting Victorian non-government schools to better understand and implement the Child Information Sharing reforms, including the:
- Child Information Sharing Scheme;
- Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme; and
- Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework.
This is a full-time, 12-month contract position.
About the reformsThe Child Information Sharing reforms allow prescribed organisations (including independent schools) to share information across the service system to enable more informed decision-making that better responds to the needs of children and young people. The reforms are intended to create a more collaborative and integrated system to improve the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people and prevent family violence.
DescriptionKey responsibilities will include:
1. Providing advice to non-government schools about the Information Sharing reforms. Example questions might include:
- How do I request information from another Information Sharing Entity?
- Which template should I use?
- What records do I need to keep once a request for information is made?
- Can I share information with another entity if the parents/carers do not consent?
- Will sharing information under the scheme breach my confidentiality obligations as a school psychologist?
2. Facilitating interactive workshops with schools to embed Child Information Sharing into organisational practice, in collaboration with the Victorian Department of Education. Examples might include:
- Travelling to regional schools and delivering a workshop to a group of principals about the reforms.
- Visiting a faith-based school (e.g. Orthodox Jewish school, Christian school, Coptic Orthodox school, or Islamic school) and delivering targeted training to a group of teachers about the reforms.
- Visiting a specialist school that caters for students with disabilities or social, emotional or behavioural difficulties and delivering one-on-one training to wellbeing professionals.
3. Developing and updating resources on ISV’s web-based platforms, isComply and isConnect. The Project Officer will ensure that information about the reforms is up-to-date and relevant.
4. Initiating, planning, managing and reporting on project deliverables, including preparing reports for the Victorian Department of Education.

To be successful in this position you will have the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. education, early childhood, community services, psychology, social/youth work or other related discipline)
- Thorough understanding of the Information Sharing reforms.
- Experience in the education sector or family violence system preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including those from diverse or marginalised backgrounds.
- Well-developed presentation skills.
- Ability to work well autonomously.
- A Victorian driver’s licence. (Some metropolitan and regional travel may be required. The appointee will be reimbursed for petrol and other travel expenses which are incurred).
- A current and valid Victorian Working with Children Clearance (or be eligible to receive same upon joining ISV).
