Whispering Gully Childcare Centre provides an environment that gives children the opportunity to imagine, create, explore and learn through play. Family owned with genuine, caring centre owners. We currently have three centres in Queensland and will open our newest location in Jindabyne 1 July 2024.
Our Jindabyne Centre is a brand-new, purpose-built facility, with large outdoor playgrounds in a natural environment. We are well connected in the community, and are very much invested in the education and care of the local families.
Available Position:
Permanent full-time cook with the opportunity for flexible working hours and no weekend work.
Position Summary:
Health is a crucial aspect of our philosophy, we believe active, growing, children need a nutritious & balanced diet to keep their bodies healthy. We provide healthy meals and snacks to ensure that all children can fuel their play and focus their minds throughout the day.
Our centre cook will be responsible for:
- Developing seasonal menus - in accordance with the Centre's nutrition policy, guidelines, and the Healthy Eating Advisory Service
- Allergen awareness - a high priority in day to day management of the kitchen, taking into consideration each child’s allergies, intolerances, and dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free)
- Weekly ordering and budgeting - including fresh fruit, vegetables and other healthy foods which are locally sourced and available in the current season
- Preparing and cooking - morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea daily for up to 92 children age 3 months to 6 years
- Food Safety documentation - maintain a high level of health and safety throughout the kitchen at all times. ensuring all required documentation is up to date

Essential Requirements:
- Anaphylaxis and Food Safety Certificates
- Ability to cater for dietary requirements and restrictions including Anaphylaxis, Allergies and Intolerances
- Passionate about providing healthy and nutritious meals to our children
Desired Requirements:
- Experience in planning nutritionally balanced meals in line with the Healthy Together Achievement Program
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at a high level at all times
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work on your own and maintain a clean and functional kitchen
- Current Paid Working with Children Check in New South Wales, Child First-Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Ability to build rapport and create positive relationships with team members, children and families
- Previous experience in childcare not required
