Our recently established Fern Early Centre in Cheltenham is currently seeking a dynamic and innovative chef/cook, ideally with prior experience in Early Children Education and Care, to become an integral part of our expanding team.

At the Fern Early Centre, we prioritise fostering health eating habits and nutritional education from a young age. We believe that a well-rounded, diverse, and nourishing diet is essential to sustain our children’s energy levels, optimise brain function, support growth and overall development.
Each of our menus are designed in collaboration with nutritionists and assessed by Nutrition Australia. This ensures that our children are enjoying balanced and tasty food. Menu reviews are completed bi-annually by the Centre cook to ensure the menu offerings reflect our community preferences and dietary needs.
To be considered for this role, the following pre-requisites need to be met:
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate, Health & Community.
- First Aid certificate.
- Working With Children Check.
- Anaphylaxis certificate.
- Allergen awareness certificate.
- Understanding of cooking for children with allergies/medical conditions/dietary requirements
- Knowledge with long day care dietary requirements
Successful candidate will:
- Work in accordance with the National Quality Standards.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of centre procedures with regards to Child Safe Standards.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of service/individuals.
- Ahere to cook grooming standards.
- Diligently follow menu plans.
- Demonstrate good understanding of budgets/food costs/resources.
