About the role
We are seeking a dedicated person for our Children's Specialist - Family Violence position! This role is responsible for the coordination of a high quality, integrated assessment and response program for children and young people within TSA's Family Violence Service (FVS).
Responsibilities include
- Coordinating the delivery of specialist high quality child focused interventions and group work to infants, children and their mothers
- Engaging with mothers and children to conduct child specific risk assessment and risk management
- Assisting case managers in developing child centred case plans and family case plans and referrals
- Providing secondary consults and authoritative direction to staff regarding children with particular focus on risk and trauma
- Holding space for the child's voice as appropriate with regards to Family Law and Child Protection
- Providing information and resources to families that is relevant, accurate, up to date and easy to understand.
- Advocacy and capacity building of mainstream services in identifying and responding to children affected by family violence.
This is a Max-Term Full-Time (until June 2026) position, based in Darwin, NT. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.
What you will have
- Degree qualification in social work, welfare (social sciences), community development or related field
- Member with a relevant accredited peak body (AASW, APS, ACA etc)
- Experience in service delivery with children and families who have experienced trauma
- Experience with women and children who have experienced family violence.
- Strong history of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.
- Valid NT Employee Working with Children Check.
