About the role
We are seeking a dedicated person for our Children's Specialist - Family Violence position! This role is responsible for the coordination of a high quality, integrated assessment and response program for children and young people within TSA's Family Violence Service (FVS).
Responsibilities include
Coordinating the delivery of specialist high quality child focused interventions and group work to infants, children and their mothers
Engaging with mothers and children to conduct child specific risk assessment and risk management
Assisting case managers in developing child centred case plans and family case plans and referrals
Providing secondary consults and authoritative direction to staff regarding children with particular focus on risk and trauma
Holding space for the child’s voice as appropriate with regards to Family Law and Child Protection
Providing information and resources to families that is relevant, accurate, up to date and easy to understand.
Advocacy and capacity building of mainstream services in identifying and responding to children affected by family violence.
This is a Max-Term Full-Time (until June 2026) position, based in Darwin, NT. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.
What you will have
Degree qualification in social work, welfare (social sciences), community development or related field
Member with a relevant accredited peak body (AASW, APS, ACA etc)
Experience in service delivery with children and families who have experienced trauma
Experience with women and children who have experienced family violence.
Strong history of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.
Valid NT Employee Working with Children Check.
